Projects & grading
All student needs to form 2-3 member groups and they have to work on a project till the end of semester.
Your work should reflect on the materials we learn during the lecture, in other words a GENAI project.
Grading:
Based on your project proposal in the middle of the semester and final presentation in the end of semester.
Project proposal: 15-20 mins.
Final presentation: 35-40 mins.
Overview (might be updated)
- Course introduction
- Object detection and image segmentation
- Variational Autoencoders
- Generative Adversarial Networks
- Attention mechanism and Transformers
- Diffusion models
- Large Language Models
Deadlines:
Project proposal: TBA - Explain what you want to work on, what kind of techniques you want to try. First project deadline: TBA - What are your results.
Example projects from previous year:
- Hearthstone
- Sketch Artist
- English language exercises
- Custom projects should be chosen for this lecture. If you can’t find out anything reach out to me and we can discuss something!
- In the final project please state what kind of models and techniques you tried, why did you chose them and what were your experiences.
- The goal is not to build a new ChatGPT or a high-end image generator, but meaningful results should be reached in order to be able to grade it.
- Bad results are results too, if you some methods did not work, please include that too, try to explain why it did not work in your opinion.
Next steps:
- Currently working on to get more resources, so you can test out your ideas on a larger scale.
-
For every student, who had a creative non-trivial project idea, that has not been done before, I offer the opportunity to pursue that into a real project and a possible publication.
